The Leviathan Chronicles!
The Leviathan Chronicles is an audio drama podcast that was released back in 2009. I just recently learned about it from someone on G+ and have listened to the first few episodes. This is an awesome show in the style of old time radio broadcasts that features a ton of voice actors as well as professional music and sound effects. I am really loving the story so far and I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the show. I’m not sure where they are on development and suspect it’s all done but this is well worth a listen.
This is an awesome show! There’s a lot of great material to provide inspiration for games. The level of atmosphere they are able to achieve is truly awesome and ends up contributing to an awesomely immersive experience.
A Song of Ice and Fire RPG
My friend Wayne Humfleet just mailed me a copy of A Song of Ice and Fire RPG and so far it’s awesome! I’m only a short way in but I’m really digging the house creation rules and can already see how it emulates the feel of the show.
My wife is the real George R.R. Martin aficionado as she has read all of the books. We have both watched Game of Thrones up to the latest episode of the third season though and I’m pining to run something for her that captures some of the intrigue.
The game is published by Green Ronin and can be purchased in print from them directly.
I will be writing more as I dig deeper into the system and get a game or two under my belt.
Mars and Thrilling Tales for Savage Worlds On Sale!
Earlier today Adamant Entertainment announced a pretty fantastic sale on two of their books at RPGNow.
Grab your fedora and your ivory-handled .45s and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as Thrilling Talesunleashes the pulse-pounding excitement of the pulp magazines and cliffhanger serials of the 1930s and 40s into the Savage Worlds rules system!
This exhaustive guide to the genre features a timeline of the 1930s, information on pulp-era weapons & vehicles, a guide to pulp villains including Nazis, the Thugee and Perils of the Orient, a Random Adventure Generator, and a complete fifteen-chapter Plot Point serial campaign, The Crimson Emperor!
Not Mars as it is – airless, most likely lifeless, with only the faintest hints of what might have once been a damp, if not necessarily lush and living, world billions of years in the past. No, this is Mars as it should be and as it was once imagined to be – an ancient, dying, but not yet dead world, a world where a vast canal network reaches from pole to pole, bringing water and life to vast and fantastic cities. A Mars where albino apes run a vast empire in the last surviving jungle, a world where warrior tribes of Green Martians raid the outlying cities of the canal dwellers, a world where, in places dark and quiet and forgotten beneath the surface, ancient and terrible intellects plan dark and dire deeds.
It is a Mars of sky-corsairs, of duels with blade and blaster, of vile plots, fantastic inventions, daring rescues, arena battles, and spectacular stunts. It is a Mars where ancient cities can be discovered and their lost treasures plundered, a Mars where a trek across the dry sea bottoms can yield amazing discoveries, where terrible monsters roam the rocky wastes.
It is the Mars of pulp fiction and Saturday morning serials.
It is now yours.

Both books are available for a limited time for just .99 in pdf format at RPGNow. I love both of these titles and this is an incredible price. I can’t speak highly enough of the excellent adventure generator in the Thrilling Tales book, truly great stuff.
Both lines have a ton of supplemental material available to keep you gaming for a very long time. I’ve written previously about some of the Mars books. I have no idea when this sale is ending but if I didn’t already have these I’d be all over it.

Hollowpoint RPG!
I’m going to be playing in a GI Joe themed game of Hollowpoint this coming weekend over Hangouts on G+. I’m excited to give this game a try and I’ve started re-reading it to prepare for the session.
I’ll do a proper write up of the game once I’ve had a chance to try it out but I have high hopes since I’ve heard nothing but great things. I really liked what I read when I had my first read through the other month.
The game can be purchased in print from Lulu Here. If you use the coupon code APRILBOOKS13 at the checkout you can get an additional 20% off.
From the description:
No one in this game is innocent.
You’re an Agent. No one ever messes with you, because you are that far above the common herd of men that sleepwalk through their lives. You get things done, and that usually means blood. Or pain. Or, when you are feeling generous, death.
Inspired by every ultraviolent action movie you’ve ever seen, Hollowpoint is about being that good at something that bad. Make no mistake: you will be a very, very bad person.
Short Order Heroes Kickstarter
The Kickstarter for Short Order Heroes is underway!
I did a write up of the deck a week or so ago that you can read Here.
This is a really cool project and I certainly encourage anyone who is interested in new, fresh ways to enrich their games to have a look and make a pledge to make this a reality. The artwork for the base deck of 54 cards is already finished and ready for production. Stretch goals get backers a bigger deck which is something I’d really love to see happen.
I really dig that some of the backer levels include blank cards. This means that you can make custom cards to seamlessly integrate into an existing set. I loved this idea for FLuxx and I love it here.
The project went live earlier today and it’s already at $730 of the $2000 goal which is exciting. Head on over to Kickstarter to read more.
Fabric of Unreality
The Dragon-Fly
Clark Ashton Smith
By the clear green river,
One afternoon in early autumn,
A dragon-fly with crimson wings alit
On the white thigh of my belovèd;
And, ever since it flew,
More fully have I known the loveliness
And the transiency of days;
And love and beauty burn within me
Like the piled leaves of blood and amber
That burn at autumn’s ending.
